To the RBA

Hi there,

Just to introduce myself... My name is Matt and I'm coming down to the Rushden game with some friends from the University of Surrey. We wanted to go and watch one of the local teams and, having already been to support Guildford City FC in recent months, decided that Woking were our rivals (hence coming to watch Aldershot)

Once I went on the RBA site and found the pictures of the East Bank I was completely sold. It looks exactly what I think football should be about. I look forward to it.

Just been on here to see if anyone can recommend any pubs to go in before/after the game. I've already been told the Red Lion is a good one, but I know absolutely nothing about the pubs in Aldershot so any ideas would be very welcome!

Cheers

Matt

Try going to the Crimea, just over the road from the ground. If not, there are a couple of bars inside the ground.

Hello Matt.....the RBA always welcome new fans and will be pleased to have you on board, especially 1s that hate the Woking Scum!!
On a match day I usually start at the top of Victoria street in town at the Queen Vic. Have a couple in there and then go over the road for few in the Goose. Then make my way down to the ground which is basically straight down the hill in front of you.
In the ground there are 2 bars. to the right is Wally's bar(South stand) and to the left Pheonix bar(North stand). You enter the ground at the highstreet end which has no stand and the East bank is at the far end oppisite you.
If you want to meet some RBA before game most drink in Wally's bar and are all very friendly. I usually pop in there for one to say hello before goin across to pheonix club for pre match pint as you get more of match day attmosphere in there as has windows and not so enclosed.
You have to be a member to drink upstairs and its no smoking but  you can get in there for £3 if accompannied by member. Its well worth it as over looks pitch and players mingle with fans after game.
I've been drinking downstairs this season though as you can smoke and I didn't renew membership.
Hope this info has been of use and enjoy your first shots match!

p.s. make sure you come to upcoming home game vs Woking in March! will be great atmosphere!!!

Thanks for the reply, shall probably go into Wally's bar for a bit. Hope to get talking to some of the RBA.

We were looking at coming fown for the Woking game anyway as it happens, because I told my friends the atmosphere should be fantastic.

See you all on Saturday!
