i'll probly get alot of stick for this but this was meant to be ''the big season'' for the RBA but with the exeption of about a few games at the beginning of the season, the RBA is'nt what it was last season.
I know !FLAGBOY! and !FRANK! are now working and i understand things arent easy for them to organis but there are a hell of alot of people within the RBA who are more than willing to help out in whateva it is.
Now i don't mean that the RBA is dieying when i say fadeing out .. what i mean is, for example last season we had RBA coaches to %80 of away games (which were full each time and one hell of a good time, win or lose!) + new or diferent flag displays each game + new and bright idea's coming in I.E this amazing website, membership cards, scarfes, pin badges ... etc.
but this season all of that seems to have dropped to 4 or 5 SHARED coaches this season in which are half filled with ''older'' supporters which means less RBA and less singing which in the end means less fun.
then for the flag displays which do look great and a great effort from everyone who does them I.E Dave beck (when Alex isn't able to do them) but not meaning to sound rude or ungreatful or what-ever they all seem to be the same set of flags each and every game (unlike the variation of last year)
It feels a bit like the RBA has faded out alot more since we've realised the playoffs this year are beyond reach for example .. when was the last coach? or even the last time a coach was mentioned?
Now i appreciate what Alex and Frank have done and are doing as much as everyone else but maybe you need to ask for a bit of help or something to get the RBA back to how it was?. i mean there once was talk of an RBA commitee .. maybe there needs to be one to get more things done? because i know alot of people (including myself) would do alot more for the RBA given the chance.
I'm sure im not the only one who wants to see the likes of Bazza, Bigsey, scotty, even !FLAGBOY! himself back onto a coach. Now i know that this time last year there would be a coach already half booked to go away to top of the league .... why not this year?.
I know i sound like a grudge but well ... who agree's with me here?.
Look how young we all look! (Except paul! lol) Garzy I totally agree with you! The RBA coaches where one of the the best parts of the away days! I think that now alex and frank are working it is going to be down to the younger generation to do things! I think that the RBA coaches should start again even if it is slightly more exspensive it is definetley worth it! Maybe an RBA coach could be arranged for Alty? I mean remeber Southport! How good was that! maybe it is time for more people to start doing more things behind the scenes aswell as in the EB!
he does av a point some things have started to fade out a bit and with the flag displays i totaly agree but i am starting 2 save up money for a sewin machine and material and stuff and i am converting my garage in 2 a room which i am gunna av for making flags and bannas etc they will never be as good as flagboys ones but i am willing 2 give it a go and put in the effort and i no i have only bin on a couple of coach journeys but the 1s i av bin on av bin a gr8 laugh like garzy sed we keep our spirits up win lose or draw that is wat the r b a is all about suporting the club to the max so in a way garzy i do agree with u. Flagboy knows that me don rog and fat boy are willing 2 help out with flags and displays which is a good thing coz like he says he hasnt got the time now as he is working but i finish at 4.30 mon-fri so i can start makin some like i say the 1st 1s well b **** coz i wont av a clue wat im doin but u get betta with practice thats wat i say and if n e 1 has n e ideas for flags i would b gr8ful for them dont get me rong im not trying 2 put flag boy out of his position im just helping him flagboy will allways b known round the rec now and like i say im willing 2 help in n e way that i can
yer totally agree with what everyone has said and everyone nos im willing to help out when ever need and hopefully will past my driven test soon so wen there isnt a coach i will be willing to drive to away games that means another 4/5 RBA at each game. and dave about the sewing machine why dont you do some sort of sponsoship 4 it ill give you some money for it i dont no what sort of thing you could do but have a think instead of using your own money.
Hi, Maybe I am not really the one to say anything being so far in Tenerife but I had thought the same myself. Some of the tifos were "samey" (Woking, Oxford etc) And as I said I don´t want to criticise from so far away but I am only trying to help out. All Fan Clubs have ups and downs to start with it takes time.
People leave, take up other interests, the team go through bad run of results etc. I formed Armada Sur (CD Tenerife) Fan Club in 1992 and I can safely say that it took atleast 6 years to get a good group together.
If any RBA want to come over on hols to Tenerife and take in a game (maybe get some Ultra Inspiration for next season, ha ha) Our season goes on until June 2oth by the way.

KEEP THE FAITH!
Oh, by the way Magazine Four Four Two came over to cover the derby game for an article out in May I think. I mentioned I supported The Shots in England and told the reporter about The RBA, so you should get a little spot.
You are right Garzy. I emailed Alex and Frank a few weeks back with pretty much what you said. I'm happy to help but no one asks me to so I don't but I am here if you do need it.
I'm thinking of getting some material and things and having a go at doing a 'proper' banner for the easter holidays.
Think we should definitely have a coach trip to Alty, perhaps a bit late to organise one for Dagenham?
For some time people have been saying that they want to do more! lets make a list of names and what you want to do! Wheter it be preparing displays, doing the displays on the day, organise coaches, the website! We dont want to take everything away from Flagboy and Frank but IF the Rba is going to work we need to start being a group again instead of relying on the same old people!
Dagenham would be a great one to get everyone together and have a really good display. Cameras will be there seeing as how Daggers can win the league if they beat us and we, as a group, could get a bit of recognition maybe if things went well!
Would be a real pity if you let your RBA thing tend to fade away.
Your visit to Oxford was the catylyst for ourselves to get off our ass*s and try to get a bit more colour and atmosphere into our stadium - and glad to say people are now starting to get the bug to hang and wave a few more flags... with more and more appearing at each game.
The site here - http://www.oxkits.co.uk/flags.htm - is making flags at the rate of about 4 or 5 a week now and struggling to keep up with demand!
The Red & Blue Army is far from dead. Ok, so we've gone a bit dormant over the past season or so. Bound to happen though, with the season we've had. There will be more displays in the future, as Dave Beck, Dan Rogers, Martin Patfied and Myself continue to plan what to do with the up and coming games that are are left. As long as the is an RBA, there will be whatever we can do to keep the atmosphere going!
As for Oxford United finally making something out of their rather large fanbase, I am actually relieved. I knew it would only be a matter of time, and it is another good move for your club and for the game. If only other teams in the Conference took notice to teams like this, who do TIFO displays, make flags, put up banners, throw confetti, etc, etc, then maybe the rest of the country would look up and take note! Good luck with your endeavours!
Yes, for our fanbase our passion is sometimes a bit low, especially at home in a windy 3-sided all-seater stadium (usually is pretty good at away games). Not at all helped by our supporters witnessing a sharp slide down the league over the past decade - along with being owned by an asset-stripping chairman.
Finally though, with a new owner, who is interested in the club (and hopefully soon owning the stadium ourselves) the fans are starting to get a bit of belief and pride back in the club.
Unfortunately, looks like we have a pretty good chance of still being in the conference again next season, and if we are lets hope we still have plenty of flags, banners and colour... and look forward to playing you again.
Keep up the good work, and good luck - hopefully next season (if here) we will both be up near the top of this league and get back into League Two!
yeh i agree with what everyone put there a still a lot of people who would hate to see the RBA fade away. I agree we need one big RBA day out even if it on the train or somthing but we need to do somthing.
spoil daggers party to me sounds good and plus go on the train hole in the wall as well.
I think the coach is a big miss as every away game that the rba did a coach to was a great day out win or loose like during the 2005-2006 season away to exeter on boxing day we lost 4-0! and we still had a great laugh! I also agree with martin when he said people do volunteer to help out but not enough information is given to them people so i'll put my name down on your list dan rog in helping the rebuild the rba to its best! P.S Alty is a deff!
The problem has been covered within the posts on this thread, there needs to be more pro active and less pro thought. This is the RBA!! it's bigger than Alex or Frank or any other person for that matter and it's important we keep it that way. Everyone is aware of the efforts put in by Alex, Frank and a number of other people too but by actively ensuring that this hard work continues you're not taking anything away from anyone else, you're simply complimenting there efforts by making sure the RBA continues to impress.
There was talk of a comittee and the members were selected and informed and that died before it began, for me.... that was a mistake because having a committe breaks up the work load and keeps it fun and stress free.
There are plenty of people saying they're willing to help if asked but you shouldn't have to be asked.... you're a paid up member, as a member it's only right that you should be able to do whatever you see fit to improve and better the RBA.
If you have an idea or want to try something then don't sit on it and wait for someone to ask for your input, spread the word! if a number of people agree with your thoughts then put your idea to the test, if it goes off with a bang it's a bonus, if it fails people will respect your efforts and be more likely to add there own input to try and improve things.
Anyone who thinks people shouldn't be trying anything without running it by Alex or Frank first are foolishly mistaken i'm afraid.
When the shots run onto that pitch they have to pull together as a group of players that need to communicate and act on instinct and it should be the same for the RBA, One or two people can only do so much but as a group of fantaical supporters all prepared to try out there own ideas the possibilitys are endless.
For me this season has been a dissapointment, not the efforts of the RBA, not even the football which has at times been extremely poor, but due to changes in my own circumstances(having a baby, money, etc) my attendances and effort have been poor, however.... by next season im expecting to be more finacially stable and im hoping the RBA will be stronger and better than ever because an RBA day is succesfull before it's even begun (fact).
Rant over =)

However, this means that it gives other RBA members a chance to help in displays, if they haven't done so before, or get involved in the development of the displays. I've found it a good laugh actually, getting to the ground early, and having a laugh with Dave Beck, Martin Patfield and Dan Rogers. So, maybe Alex moving away isn't such a bad thing. He's still coming to games, but any new flags, banners, 2-sticks, whatever, will not be made by Alex, but by someone else. Surely, this means if more people can make things, then there will be bigger, better things in the East Bank?
Alex has left a message on the Shotsweb message board, so here's the link to it.

Hopefully, this will enspire other RBA members to take a stand in doign things for themselves, instead of relying on a select few to do it.
Oh Fulham aint that bad just a train journey away.
Hopefully this can wake people up and make them feel like they can change the RBA because they can. I would help out but I hardly know any of you lot and I am a bit shy . Saturday is my first game without my uncle so im coming with a couple of my mates. So if theres anything planned ill help if its needed and if I arrive early.
I know its at Dagenham. They could win the league and their hoping to smash their attendance record of 5000 odd so there will be loads of TV crews. Good publicity for the RBA unless we do a Spurs or Man U . More reason to do a display of some sort even if it includes getting one of the big flags out and just waving that about.
So it is sort of like a home game. Infact its more like a Cup Final, so lets ruin their champions party and they can win the league on Monday instead.
If it was at Aldershot then I wouldnt be allowed with mates my age, but luckily its just on The Tube.
