"Whatever happened to real policemen ? I engaged one of the thick little chaps in conversation whilst he was hell bent on filming the East Bank singers by holding the camera 2 feet above his head. He assurred me that the people filmed would cause trouble outside the ground 'later'"
Is this not more proof that the coppers think we are the troublemakers?
Not really Ben, "people" was probably more of a generalisation based upon the fact that the small element of idiots we do have stand beside us alongside the fence in the eastbank. I can assure you that the vast majority of directors at the football club know we are not promoting violence and are fully aware of the intention of the RBA!
It's unfortunate that the minority of wannabe thugs have homed themselves right beside us lot and therefore probably makes it harder for the police and such to establish the good from the bad. All the while we continue to do what we do and they continue to do what they do the police will eventually see there is a clear divide between our own intentions and those intentions of our "idiot brigade"

This is why I think fatboy's idea of a boycott is a good one. If we all leave that part of the East Bank for one game and leave the burberry pricks on their own at the back, the plod can have no excuses for not being able to identify them.
Exactly. At least for once, the plod would be filming the right people. I say go and stand in the uncovered area in the South West corner for a game. Get away from all the chavs. We can have the flags and whatever else up over there, but at least we'd be leaving the true troublemakers where they want to be, which is goading the away support.
I don't personally agree with leaving the East Bank at all. However, with all the policing and stricter rules on swearing() and the multiplying of the chavs and wannabe hooligans, we could at least give it a go over in the corner, just for one game, which would show the coppers and the club who the troublemakers really are.
I think it would be a good idea to point out who these people are. We have a few ways to do this;
1)Boycott the game, stand in the south stand bit.
2) Stay in the EB where we are, don't sing, don't do anything,
3)Stay in the EB but stand behind the group banner (which would be turned upside down and be the only banner up). Put on a display colouring the part of the EB we are in with a banner at the front, some thing along the lines of, RBA - SUPPORTERS NOT HOLLIGANS.
I prefer the third one myself but I think we need do something, next home game aswell. We were going to do something about the Farsley game but we waited around so long nothing happened. Exeter home!
Exeter home seems right. But **** them. With a big game, ALL of the troublemakers will be out in force. Let's ditch them. I know, it's a big game, but, it will only be one game.
Let's show the club who the real troublemakers are.
3 points and supporting the team is the most important thing, our badge says EASTBANK on for crying out loud. We can't just go elsewhere because we are facing some trouble, lets fight it out (NOT LITERALLY) and move away from them, down the front of the EB and further right!
Like Dylan said in his post above the club and police know who the trouble makers are!
I think you chaps are taking this way over the top.
You want to boycott the Eastbank for a game or two then go for it. I can tell you now though I'm certainly not leaving. There will be about 6/7 of you max and you'll all look like muppets.
WE KNOW PARRISH KNOWS ITS NOT US BUT IF THE BOARD KNOW THEN WHY DID OUR CHAIRMAN PERSONALLY ASK OUR HEAD STEWARD IF THE R.B.A WERE THE HOOLIGANS FROM THE FOOTBALL CLUB. AFTER THAT RESPONTS YOU HAVE TO ASK, DO THEY REALY KNOW, AND IF SO THEN WHY EVEN ASK THE QUESTION.
To be fair I was on about a move permanently so we can support however we want but as you say Dave, there's not enough of us and many people don't actually want to leave the East Bank.
You lot sort it, you guys got the banners and that. Less talk, more action?
There is one simple way to resolve it (for the time being) and that is for the RBA to be at the Exeter game in force and to front out the East Bank Youth (which is what I believe they pathetically call themselves)
40-50 RBA telling the morons to **** off off out of the East Bank unless they are going to behave. Interesting that they were conspicuous by their absence in the car park at Oxford! Self Policing - the Tartan Army does it to great effect.
dont let the chav clowns get you to leave the east bank over to them, the cops will soon work out whats what let them sort it out its what we pay them for! keep focused on what you do best, creating the best atmosphere that drives the players on to victory!!!!!!!
Why should anyone leave the Eastbank just because of a few idiots? I for one would never leave the best section in the ground!
I was standing at the refreshments hut before kick off on Saturday and one of the lads in a burberry cap came up to me and said ''oi mush, where is all da trouble in da ground happening dis season?''.
How pathetic!!!
All 'proper' shots supporters attend for one thing and one thing only - to get behind the team and help them onto victory.
This is exactly what i have been thinking for the past few matchs!
Im 15, and have supported the shots for what, 8 years now, seen all the fantastic moments and have VERY rarely missed a match, but i simply just dont enjoy home matchs anymore.
About half-way through last season i decided to invite a freind, which was possibly the worst mistake!
Now half my year comes? And to be honest, they couldnt care less what the score is, and spend there entire match at an angle, just watching the away fans, and all the care about is wether they have a "firm" these t**ts are just ruining matchs, and i was very close to walking out of the oxford home match last season, yes, we wanted to be louder, that didnt mean we needed to devote every song we sing to the oxford fans??
Im not in the RBA, but you need to act fast, because the talk around my school, is not who are aldershot playing this saturday? its Is there going to be a "ruk" at the train station, and the eastbank is becoming way to overcrowded with stupid low-life wanabys, that think there hard because they catch the train to matchs????...the idea of "RBA-NOT HOOLIGANS" banner, is a very good idea
Unfortunately I had the misfortune to be with this bunch on the Football Special after the Oxford away game. They quite clearly sang songs referring to themselves as A-Company Youth.
OR THERE JUST SIMPLY GOING TO BE FORCED OUT OF THE EASTBANK BY THESE THUGS
Moving out of the eastbank is a good idea, if everyone in the RBA is aware that it will be happening, we can slip out perhaps for just 10-15 minutes at half time, just to raise awarness towards police of who these individuals are.
I will certainly follow you, ***WITHOUT MY FREINDS
WE KNOW PARRISH KNOWS ITS NOT US BUT IF THE BOARD KNOW THEN WHY DID OUR CHAIRMAN PERSONALLY ASK OUR HEAD STEWARD IF THE R.B.A WERE THE HOOLIGANS FROM THE FOOTBALL CLUB. AFTER THAT RESPONTS YOU HAVE TO ASK, DO THEY REALY KNOW, AND IF SO THEN WHY EVEN ASK THE QUESTION.
I think you'll find this is a case of wires crossed to be honest.... I worked for John for a long time and he knows all about what we do and why we do it so I highly doubt he has us pegged as hooligans and if he did I doubt he would have continued to employ me for as long as he did.
If you're that concerned why not show the club what civilised and rational people you are by simply writing them a letter voicing your concerns over being mistaken for thugs and explaining exactly what you do and who you are.
Boycotting the eastbank/not singing/no display is only likely to effect those on the pitch rather than those you wish to demonstrate towards so I really don't feel this is a good idea atall and I personally will take no part in a demonstration.
However I would be happy to have my name listed as one of many genuine RBA fans on the end of a letter of concern that simply informs the club you have reason to believe you may be getting tarred with the wrong brush and want to clear up any possible missunderstanding.
I'd happily write the letter myself if people feel this is a good idea?
Feedback.

Dylan - it is a good idea. We could suggest a meeting with Ian Parrish to discuss how the RBA can assist the police to get rid of these morons. The letter could be signed by everyone on the coaches to Cambridge/Stevenage and any other RBA members not able to make these trips.
I think that the meeting would be a brilliant idea. I think we should aim to get a range of ages there and a range of people, those that do stuff behind the scenes then those that organise stuff on the terraces. I would offer to write a letter but as most of you know I'm not the brightest spark when it comes to formal English!
Then join up! It's only a fiver! I am sure you know who to speak to! The fat drummer with the beard! Sign up next tuesday! If you can't see him then ask around for fatboy!
I think Dylan's idea of a letter is the most sensible idea and I'd go along with that. Thats all this situation needs is a bit of communication. Something that is often lacking at our club. I can fully understand the frustrations of the RBA guys that work so hard to make the displays work so well. Being labelled as hooligans must be so disheartening and make you feel un-appreciated. I can tell you tho that all the true fans know exactly how hard you work and fully appreciate what you do. Without you boys in the East bank, it would be a worse place......please don't boycott, we need you!
I dont think the RBA should have to leave the Eastbank. I mean if the cops who are in the ground are the same who go looking for the troublemakers afterwards, they should have no trouble realising who is a hooligan and who isnt. I agree with the person above me,dont leave the Eastbank, the displays you guys put on are great and you always start up the songs lol.The Eastbank wouldnt be the same without you. A letter or meeting seems the best ideas.
