hi guys, is there any news on any rba merchandise for the new season ie scarves tee shirts hoodies or any other stuff ? if the club have a family day again like last year we could sell some on the day if the club let us.
I believe this is something we can only look into when we've got a bit of money. We've hardly got an "investor" we can pay back, so we'll just have to see what we get out of membership.
I think we could look at some more, better quality hoodies, in bigger sizes. Maybe a few more enamel badges, as quite a few people will buy them, we all know they are a good seller. Another thing that could be a good investment is beanie hats/baseball caps, as quite a few RBA members wear hats.
I think what we could do with some merchandise that is well sought after is find out prices, and pay however much it would cost to buy them, and then order them in, rather than the other way round. This way we would already have the money for them, and we would not be over/under ordering.
Members only, erm, hats would be great, as would t-shirts (I could knock up a few designs if needed?) badges, new scarves, hoodies...
As Fatboy said though, aslong as we have the money it'll be ok. I think displays and banners are more important than merchandise. But money could be made from merchandise to fund better displays?
Argh, I don't know, I'll leave the thinking to the clever people :)
how about some sort of badge i.e rba 08/09 for members only the other stuff is for general sale and we would still make money but you can only have this certain badge for being a member and the date changes every year?

I think that RBA merchandise should be on sale strictly to RBA members only. Wearing the badge shows that you are part of the RBA, so I think it should only be sold to our members.
I've seen old people wearing our scarves just because they say "RED BLUE ARMY" on, not realising it's a group rather than just a fan label. The merchandise should be exclusive, so only only members can show the badge IMO.
I would have to disagree sorry, Fatboy. In my mind it is better to sell as many scarves as possible. You need money for flags/tifos etc. so why limit it to just members who buy one scarf for the season and thats it. If other non member fans wear the RBA scarf it would make me proud.
Everyone knows who the real RBA people are. The ones giving support for 90 mins, putting some colour back onto the terraces.
Maybe you have tried before but I would even ask the Club to sell RBA material in the official Club shop.
The club don't like it, simply because it takes away their money. They don't make nything from it, so they aren't interested. We have done it previously, however, a new chief exec was brought in, and within a few games it was stamped on.
Can i ask a few questions, Is RBA merchandise sold to raise funds for displays, and if so how many members does it offically have. Knowing how many members you have gives you an idear of what monies you could raise from selling to members only. if the answer to the first question is yes then surley selling to anyone gives you a bigger market to raise more funds for the RBA. I understand your views, you've all worked hard to get the RBA where it is today and i respect you all for that! Yes joining is a quick fix cash injection solution to raise funds at very little cost and should remain so, but you should also look at long term funding aswell The Badge for members only is a must! Some merchandise could be worded differant such as polo shirts may have (Member) on wheres as the same polo shirt sold to anyone else does not. Can i also say that you should be proud of yourselves if someone wants to wear YOUR Colours and not the official club ones, 'Red Blue Army' you guys have got the slogan build on it, use it, why not if we had the same gates as Man Utd you'd make £ millions. Only idears lads you brought it this far, i'm sure you'll work something out all the best.
I deffinetly agree with the new badge, I mean surely just modifying the date part to 2008-2009 will take wob 30 seconds on photoshop!!??
One thing I also agree on is showing who is RBA, and who isn't, that way if people like what we do, then it will simple equal more membership money, and funny as it sounds, some people think there a part of the RBA simply because they stand in the Eastbnk! (Although that is generally the younger age.
Of course the money should go towards displays...ahead of merchandise.

Membership at the moment is back at the zero mark. Every pre-season membership needs to be renewed, to bring in a bit of money. Merchandise is sold to make money for whatever needs to be done, for example, displays, more merchandise, and whatever else the RBA mayneed at the time.
The Badge for members only is a must!
I'll agree with that. I think this could be a nice little sentiment, selling for £3, but it's a members only badge. As for other merchandise, the general input seems to be that it should be on sale to everyone, and have a select item(s) on sale for members only to seperate them from others.

I can understand that in a way but surely a price can be worked out so The Club and the RBA can benefit. And The Club should want to keep you happy in anycase instead of being petty about losing a small bit of money that lets face it will not make a differance to the teams success next season. The RBA giving it some on the terraces will make a difference.
I think t-shirts would be a good idea, get a few different designs done. I don't think they cost much to make and could be a good seller. What do people think?
hi again guys, ive got a few new rba keyrings made for the new season they are bit different from last years, celebrating the shots promotion back to the football league , also if any one would be interested im thinking of doing a few rba mouse mats ? comments please.
sorry do not have any pictures of the key rings at this time. if the rba are going to hold another meeting before the season starts i could bring some to the meeting. over to you mr chairman.
Pictures of merchandise will be put up the the RBA shop when it becomes available. At the moment though, it's all about looking at whether people would buy some of the stuff we are offering, because if we buy it and it doesn't sell, we'll end up either at a loss, or with a load of merchandise nobody wants.
i will be bringing some new rba key rings to the ringtone singalong on tuesday if any body is interested price £2, could have some mouse mats made for the alton game.
