Possible Memorial Game?

Would it be possible to organise a memorial game against some guys Alton Town? I understand it might be slightly harder as they don't as many fans as most teams we play, but it's just an idea.

Hi Guys

I think the idea of a memorial game is a great idea.

The supporters of Alton Town are mainly Grandad's who takes their Grand-Children to the matches but I have come up with another idea that would be good in the given circumstance!

I don't know if many of you are aware but John was an Alton man who owned a pub in Alton called "The Gentleman Jim".
"The Gentleman Jim" has it's own football team and one of the guys who plays for the team also works where I do. I have asked him if he feels that the team would be up for playing a memorial game in John's honour and he contacted the guy who heads the team and has given me his mobile number so you can arrange for this to happen.

Obviously these guys are regulars to his pub so do know him too. It just seems a nice idea that people who knew the man, the legend, will celebrate (or commisorate!) his life together!

The guy you need to call is called Kenny Guiness and his mobile number is 07812079139

Thanks Guys, I think this is definately worth doing

I could do a match report and take some photos for Nick Fryer to see if he can get into the programme if needed.

Good idea Dangerous - I will make this my priority next week. Maybe even get the game for next Saturday 5th before Hereford. It would be fitting to have a tribute game in the morning and then the tribute at 3pm plus Sundays memorial service.

Plus we're playing F'Boro on 12th so...i'll do my best to get this arranged a.s.a.p smile

Dave, I still have your Bristol Rovers Programme, which I will bring with me for Grimsby tomorrow. Also I cant unfortunately now do the Farnborough game due to other commitments.
I now have a laptop(finally!)which enables me to do these things!!!

Thought i'd just update you all regarding a memorial game for JM. I phoned Kenny the chap from 'The Gentlemen Jim' (JM's pub in Alton) and he said that they would very much like a game against us. His team is however a Saturday side and he is ringing up his league to try and juggle some of there fixtures to fit this memorial game in.

I will let you know more as and when smile

Sorry - missed this thread some how up to now: if I can help with anything from putting any pre-match build up/advertising, match report etc on the tool just let me know - can also help sort out getting it in the programme (if needed).

Ta,

Mike

I'm still waiting to hear back from them about a game for John McGinty. They play in a Saturday league and the chap is tying to juggle there fixtures to try and fit us in. So I just thought i'd give you the heads up and just let you know I haven't forgot about it and I'm just waiting to hear back from them.

Thanks
Shearersmile
