This is no joke....

Take a look at the left of the picture below and see where the segregation barrier has been moved to - I really can't believe this, and it's all thanks to the mindless idiots throwing missiles at the away fans recently.

Without question the atmosphere is going to be **** over the next few weeks but with a bit of luck hopefully it'll deter the idiots from coming back. Once this happens I'm sure the club will move the barrier back again. The club are also asking fans to step forward if they know who any of these idiots are - so if anyone knows anything, please let them know. The sooner the club are happy that the situation is back under control the sooner we can have our space behind the goal back.

It's an absolutely horrible depressing situation to be in. Oh how much do I hate those top left corner chavs. I fully support the Clubs decision to do this though, recently it has got ridikulous. Let's make we do everything we can to get rid of our hooligan element.

As for the atmosphere being **** over the next few weeks. No, it doesn't have to be at all, there's still going to be the same amount of us, and we'll all be bunched closer together so it may in fact help the atmosphere. Let's make every effort to ensure it doesn't suffer.

My heart sank when I saw that picture. cry

While I'm gutted and very annoyed, I fully support and understand the reasons for this change. If it reduces the risk of trouble and the police bill then it's for the good of the club and gives us yet another reason to hate those pikey tramps in the corner.

They're damaging our club's reputation and also the reputation of our fans (just look at all the trouble we face when we travel away) and now they've ruined the East Bank for hundreds of loyal, genuine Shots fans.

I now have no idea where I'm going to be standing on Saturday. cry

Can we put ourselves in the top left corner this Saturday? As in, where the troublemakers would usually stand? At least then, maybe if more of us are up there, they won't stand there?

I'm up for that.

We need to make it known that they're not welcome.

From Richard Petty, posted on Shotsweb, for those who have not seen it.

"Thank you for many of the supportive messages that have been posted regarding this matter, I would like to re confirm that the decision to move the segregation was not something that the club wanted to do and I would like you to know that for me personaly seeing it moved today was probably one of the saddest and most depressing things I have ever been involved with at this club.

Because of the effect this is having on some of our most loyal and well behaved supporters I felt that in this instance I should clarify a few points that have been raised.

Firstly with regard to vertical netting, we did look into this as an option and unfortunatly due to league regulations this cannot be used as it does inhibit viewing and can be a safety hazard.

I originaly had tried to see if we could move the line (as someone else suggested) to just halfway behind the Goal, unfortunately we cant do that as regulations require a clear stairway and an exit from the stand at the segregation point. Some of you may recall the old position was on the stairway leading to Gate E50. The new position is on the next available stairway leading to the next exit Gate E49.

To all those supporters who have been displaced please can i ask you to give this a chance, it will feel different and I am sure you you will continue to want to be back in your old spot but if you give up as someone on here has suggested then everyone loses, we lose a valued supporter, and you lose seeing the team you love.

Nothing is written in stone, one day when we feel confident that we have driven out this small group of hooligans then we will be able to return things to how they were, I dont want this wider segregation to last any longer than it has to but we cant risk fines, or worse points deductions along with the hugely escalated costs of police and stewards that we would have to provide if we moved it back too soon.

Oh and I seem to remember someone suggested moving the away fans further away, unfortunately we cant do that as they already only occupy one section of the Eastbank and we cannot put them on the open terracing as again League regulations insist that away supporters must be offered covered terracing (which to be fair I actualy agree with)

To those idiots who have caused this problem, I hope your proud of yourselves, you have upset the club and you have upset your fellow supporters.

We dont want hooligans at Aldershot Town, we are on your case now and I promise you we will have a Zero tolerance policy on any one who threatens to or actualy does bring our club into disripute.

Does anyone have a picture of when we had the old cage fence up on the eastbank?
Some people on Shotsweb are saying it wasn't much bigger than yesterday but I'm sure I remember it far bigger and I always stood behind the goal. Cheers

The terraces capacity is dropped because the yellow walkways due to f*****g 'Elf n Sayftee' and then there is this large stretch of open terracing. This is so stupid, because of mindless numbskulls who think they are fighting or provoking the opposition fans on behalf of Aldershot Town.
I wasnt able to go to the game yesterday but after seeing the sad sight of only 2/3 of the East Bank in use, it looked like a preseason friendly!

YOU MORONS WHO HAVE RUINED GOING TO WATCH OUR BELOVED TEAM SHOULD HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME. NO THAT YOU CAN READ THIS AS YOU PROBABLY DONT GIVE A **** OR EVEN WORSE ARE READING THIS AND ARE PROUD OF YOUR ACTIONS. BECAUSE OF IDIOTS LIKE YOURSELVES THROWING COINS ETC AT AWAY FANS, MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE SHOTS LONGER THAN YOU HAVE BEEN ALIVE CAN'T WATCH FROM WHERE THEY HAVE STOOD FOR 10,20,30 OR EVEN MORE YEARS!

Same as everybody else, im **** gutted. I did speak to Richard Petty yesterday and gave him 2 names. These were 2 lads who i recognised at the B'mouth game last week. I wont mention names but seriously, if anyone knows anybody else then get to that club office and speak. I dont give a monkeys if they are your mates, i just want them out. They ruin this for the small minority of us that go every week and love to be standing in that spot behind the goal. With any luck, CCTV will show who the rest of the football virgins are and get them chucked out for good. We dont need this at our club.

I just hope that this is a flash in the pan, and this sad situation can be resolved quickly.
By that I mean not just at The Rec specifically, but across all of English Football.

Ok, if you caught Ian McGarry's column in The Sun towards the end of last week, and/or Sky's coverage, you will have seen Craig Bellamy getting hit by a plastic bottle in the League Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg.
Also there have been several other incidents like this occurring at grounds up and down the country of late.

These were the sorts of incidents that got English Football total and utter notoriety in the seventies and eighties and led eventually to a ban from European Competition post-Heysel
(1985) for all our clubs until the 1990/91 season.

In my opinion, this has been dealt with well by Richard Petty and ATFC, and we cannot afford to run the risk of being fined by The Football League and The FA as we need every penny we can lay our hands on at the moment like a lot of clubs, and situations of this nature could cause potentially irreparable damage to our reputation as a whole in the present and the future; the results of which could at a worst-case scenario, finish this club off.
I apologise if this sounds like I'm scaremongering but I'm a realist.

This is only a temporary situation, as per Richard's Shotsweb statement , and this, from our (the RBA's)
point of view should be the perfect opportunity for us to pull together and unite even further, and for ATFC in general to rid themselves of this mindless minority that choose to associate with the club for once and for all.

We are a proud club, who have fought so hard to get back to our former glories.
Let's not ruin that good work.

Well put dangerous, these idiots make people less inclined to come to away matches at Aldershot as a result of our reputation. this reputation reflects badly on a well-run club and then as a result of this more police are required at our games causing yet more expense.

Then you get the morons at Bournemouth, Grimsby etc who decide that all Aldershot fans want to cause a bit of aggro and so throw things at our buses when the vast majority (over 95%) of our fans want to watch the games.

I was chatting to someone who comes to my work occasionally and he is a Woking fan (someones got to support them) and he told me that in the few occasions he has come to watch them play at the Rec, he has had bottles, coins and BATTERIES thrown into their away section of the East Bank. There are young children who stand in the East Bank following their teams and it only takes for one of them or a family member to get hit by one of those objects and they wont want to watch the game live anymore and might start watching a bigger team who they can follow on TV.
