Shots Fan from sunny Tenerife

Great site you have here,

Well impressed with the "Tifos" and the effort that goes into all the flags.

I have been living in Tenerife for some 17 years now and follow my local team CD Tenerife as well as The Shots. I hardly missed a home game between 1982-1987 as well as going to quite a few away matches. Anyone remember Brighton away in the milk cup 85? We got hammered one day at Exeter City 4-0(think about 86) and I remember Andy King coming back on our supporters coach.

I flew back from Tenerife in 87´ especially for the play off games against Bolton(at the away game there was only 7,000 there, and 800 of them were Aldershot!) What a trip to Wolves to gain promotion. Superb day out!

Also flew back for Aldershot fc last ever game, a friendly at Woking fc(correct me if I am wrong)

Have you any links with Spanish Clubs? I run a CD Tenerife Fan Club out here called Armada Sur(South Army) mainly ex-pats and we put on good displays with our Canarian mates The Blue and White Front(Frente Blanquiazul)

Flagboy will be impressed,je je. Keep up the good work. If any RBA come out to Tenerife I would take you to a game at cost price on our coaches(roughly 10 quid ticket & travel) Below(hopefully) is a pic from our last home game.

COME ON YOU SHOTS!  VIVA TENERIFE!

These are our new flags for this season, the type you hold up with two sticks.

As you can probably tell, we are anti-Spain and want independance, also alot are anti-fascist. My particular group,Armada Sur are not too political, just follow CD Tenerife but we hate the Las palmas scum.

This is from an away trip to Las Palmas for a 2nd div. game. We have the same flag as scotland incase you were wondering. Most of the English lads are down the front in the middle, including a few Shots fans.

Hello Chris!!

I've known about the Armada Sur for a while now, but was totally unaware that a fellow shots fan is the founder of the group! Those pics are quality!!

Well the RBA has only just started and things have gone better than expected. I've been making flags for a few years now, and all the flags you see in our pics are done by myself. I decided to set up the RBA to encourage other shots fans to get involved in "Tifos" that we've put on. There have been a few already this season.

We have about 80 (ish) members at present, and the number is always rising. We've come across more as supporters group to encourage people to join in our aims to produce a better atmosphere at the rec (not that it really needs improving) but now we've started to realise there are a few dedicated shots fans who want to carry out "Tifos" on a regular basis! The hardcore few of us are now forming a separate group: "RBA ULTRAS".

The RBA ULTRAS will be the hardcore fans of the RBA, who put more effort in than most to create a better visual look to our support. We have been a huge admirer of the "ULTRAS" scene across Europe, and we want to bring that to matchdays. The RBA ULTRAS have some way to go yet before we can really establish ourselves. We are currently getting some 2 stick flags made up for each of RBA ULTRAS, as well as getting similar 'ultra style' hoodies for each of us so that we stand out from the rest. An RBA ULTRAS banner is also on it's way, it'll better than anything i've done before!

We dont have links with any clubs at the moment, and if we had the chance, we'd certainly be interested in creating a link with another group.

Can i ask how your 2 sticks are made? I've always used material for all aspects of the flags/banners that I've made in the past. However, i'm starting to venture into fabric paint and an over head projector!! Our banner collection doesn't need adding to, so 2 sticks are certainly a priority at the moment!

Hope to hear from you soon Chris!

RBA & Armada Sur?

The 2 "sticks" to hold up the flags are plastic tubes normally used for plumbing purposes but alot better to use at footie I would say.

All the wooden sticks etc. were banned years ago after one too many riots in Spain but we are allowed these tubes as long as are flexible.

Why not do a poster with all your best tifos? Keep the interest growing in this marvelous world of the Ultras. You have a distinct advantage though in the UK when you are travelling around, that many people will not be expecting any of this colour and imagination so that is an extra buzz. Here it is a case of everyone has seen it all by now, but it is still a great movement. If you can make a good display, sing ya hearts out and win the game what a top day out.

This is a poster for this season at CD Tenerife, maybe you could do a similar one for Aldershot with all the remaining fixtures around it?

Very impressive wall paper!! Our man is Simmo who takes control of the visual looks of the RBA on the internet!! Here are a couple he's done so far!!

We, the Stanley Ultras and Jorvik Reds are with out doubt leading the way in England, and it'll remain that way for some time to come!!
