Just thought id start this as something different for all of us to take our minds off recent events!
Out of all the players that have represented The Shots since we have been in the National Conference, who would your dream team 11 be and which 5 would make the subs bench? Here's mine:
TEAM
Nikki Bull
Dean Hooper. Will Antwi. Ray Warburton(c). Darren Barnard
Nick Roddis. Dave Lee. Adam Miller
Aaron Mclean. Roscoe D'sane
Tim Sills
SUBS
Richard Barnard. Brett Johnson. Jon Challinor. Marcus Gayle. Jonny Dixon
OVERVIEW
Nikki Bull - we all know the reasons why!
Dean Hooper - used to bomb foward but also defend well. a proper right back!
Will Antwi - not surprised he has gone to wycombe. quality in his last season with us!
Ray Warburton - super! great leader! loud! won everything in the air! never been replaced!
Darren Barnard - as good as chewy in defence but better going foward
Nick Roddis - work rate was excellent! shame he got injured near the end of his shots career!
Dave Lee - shows class in the middle of the park by getting the ball down and passing well!
Adam Miller - great box to box centre mid or wide player! molesley will be just as good!
Aaron Mclean - not a great finisher but always gave 100% and set up goals!
Roscoe D'sane - would welcome him and his pace back from afc wimbledon anyday!
Tim Sills - couldn't blame him for a move to the league. held the ball up well and neat touches!
Richard Barnard - was getting close to bully's starting spot but wanted first team footy!
Brett Johnson - quality for his age! cant blame him for a footy league move!
Jon Challinor - i always rated this guy and still do! shame he wanted more money!
Marcus Gayle - would be a good player to come on in the last five minutes! adds height!
Jonny Dixon - shame wycombe wanted him! never forget the hatrick at gravesend!
I agree with Alex there....Edward Sheringham did indeed play for Aldershot (I have a couple of programmes with his name on) in the late 80's (along with Steve Claridge) But as you can imagine this was when Aldershot were in the football league Div 3/4 so quite obviously not the conference.
Springs...well lets face it he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo whilst playing with us - scored in the Play Off Final but thats it! His work rate and desire was second to none, he ran his socks of and gave it his all but it wasn't producing goals.
(Jnr - lets face it you wouldn't have him in your team really! It's simply because he's scoring now at Grays and looking at a potential move higher up into the football league that you have included him??!!)
But he still played for us and mclean is a great player and is showing that now everyone has different opinions on players I just would prefer mclean to rosco
