Chappie's appeal..........

Most of you should know about my sponsored drive around all 92 league grounds by now, which is takin place between the 9/9/07-14/9/07.
I did have a team of 4 RBA lads going on the trip but a couple of them have had to drop out for various reasons.
Therefore I am appealing to all RBA members to help make the numbers up by volunteering to come on the trip.
The main obsticle is going to be getting the time off work on the above dates which is why I'm asking now, so to give as much notice as possible.
This is a great oppertunity for the RBA to show itself in a positive light with the club. The club will gain from this event as well as Phyliss Tuckwell as I have decided to split the sponsor money 50/50 with the Hospice and the "Players fund".
I am determined to make this project a success but I do need the support of my fellow RBA members to help me achieve this.
The only cost to you for this road trip will be spending money and the shared cost of 2 nights accomodation in Blackpool between 3 of you.
I have already booked and paid for 4 Hotels on the other nights and am happy to cover the cost of these myself. Also I'm paying for the fuel so all in all its not a bad deal.
So come on Lads don't miss out on this great oppertunity to not only do something worthwhile but also have a right good laugh doing it! and you never know we might even end up in the paper as well as the match day programme.

You know it makes sense!!

Chappie biggrin

p.s. I now expect my inbox to be full!! lol

I've signed on with a temping agency and so long as I give them notice I can get out of work for that week so Unless something drastic happens between now and then I can't see my taking part being a problem.

Have Glen and Dave pulled out?

Tonesy might be up for it? I don't know for sure but he might be like and he only looks about twelve so that would help with the 3 adults and 1 child for the hotels, not sure if you know him though and don't know if you'd wanna spend a week with him but it's just a thought.

Yeah I know Tonesy.......last time I saw him he was chasing Oxford fans thro the town centre!! lol     Yeah If he wants to come he's more than welcome. Would be a good crack.
Spoke to a mate the other day and he was saying that Travelodge are fairly relaxed on the 3 adult 1 child thing. So hopefully we won't have a problem if we manage to get 4 of us to go.
Glad to hear your still up 4 it as was starting to worry I was gonna end up doing it on my own!
Glen has pulled out cos of his ban and Dave because he has his driving test. At least they gave me plenty of notice so hopefully will get replacements before the 9th Sept.
Speak to you Wednesday if your at the Charlton game.

Mr Tones said he would like to take the fourth spot on this sponsored drive assuming the other participants are happy with that, just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Indeed, I'm really looking forward to this event I think it'll be a great laugh and at the same time we will be raising money for a great charity.

Chappie, I'm not sure what your stand is on this but my mum was speaking to Joe Jopling last night at the Golden Lion and he said he'd happily put up a sponsor ship form in his pub for the 92 griounds tour.

Only thing is he's slightly concerned about the 50/50 split and thinks all proceeds should go towards the phyliss tuckwell as it will look bad on the club and seem as though they are taking money from a charity.

I have been told there is a law which states that any fund raising event that takes place in aid of a charity means that the charity has to recieve all proceeds anyway, might be worth checking that out? Joe reckons that an event as big as this will get a lot of publicity anyway if we contact the right people..... ie national papers etc.

So in effect if we gave all money raised to the phyliss tuckwell the club would gain from publicity up and down the country and everyone will be talking about how it's more than just a football club etc.

Personally I think people will be more inclined to sponsor us if they know all money raised is going to the phyliss tuckwell, it's also possible that the clubs we visit may well be prepared to donate towards the charity aswell as this will make them look good in the eyes of the public.

Not sure what you think but I feel this event will be much more succesfull if we look to give all the money to the phyliss tuckwell, the club will get a huge amount of publicity, the charity will get a good wack of cash and we will be laughing at the difference weve made.

Yes mate I think your right. That was my origonal plan anyway. Only changed my mind when some guy I spoke to in the bar said we should help the club as well. Thing is we will be anyway as its good promotion for them.
So its agreed that 100% proceeds will go to Phyliss Tuckwell Hospice.
Would be great of Joe to hold a sponsor form in his pub. I'm all for any ways of raising more money.
We seem to be getting a really good reponse from this event which is great news. We're gonna need more sponsor forms but my ink has run out on my printer. Can you photo copy 1 of yours if you have a blank 1 left?
Also I'm gonna take a bucket to Crawley game and hope to raise some extra money through people giving their spare change.smile

Good Idea, if you have the form on your computer then email it to me on dylan.81@gmail.com and I'll print a load off as I'm at my Mums right now and don't have the form with me.

If you're able to do that then I can run a form over to the pub today?

If you use msn then add my email addy to your list mate.

No sorry Ben. The 2 replacements were found a while ago now. There is only space for 4 people as Hotels have been booked and everything has been made official. Look out for us in the Aldershot News&Mail!
