Well, all is set for my first game at The Rec. for 20 years!
I have Lived in Tenerife and been involved in the Ultra Scene for many years now but I lived in Bordon until the age of 18 and followed the Shots religiously from 83-87 travelling all over the country. I flew back especially for the Bolton and Wolves Play off Finals and also flew back for the last ever game of Aldershot FC a friendly at Woking.
Kept in touch with results of course but with the advent of internet felt much closer to The Shots and proud of what the RBA was doing.
In past years I have seen The Shots away a few times but during my trips to the UK it never really fitted in with a home game but that will change soon as I am over for the Stevenage game on Feb. 16th (Please don't tell me it is liable to a change of date or a frozen pitch!)
Ofcourse like to meet some RBA before kick off for a few shandies if poss. and I would be glad to help in any "tifo activity" if need be.
Also like to join RBA offcially and get a scarf.
Looking forward to it! This is me before a Tenerife game (I am not a nutter really)
Tenerife, we look forward to meeting you and inducting you into the RBA (as our most distant member!) would be useful to gain some insight into some of the visual ideas you have tried at Tenerife games
Tenerife, love to see you at the Rec, im one of the old age R.B.A, and if nobody has a spare R.B.A official scarf, then come and see me, fatboys old man and you can have one of mine to take back to your lovery country. All the best, Paul Blundell.
Cheers for all the good wishes. It certainly will bring back a few memories walking through those turnstiles (yeah, bad one´s) ha ha. Only joking. I wonder if anyone can help me. Does anyone know of a loyal Shots fan called Alan Watkins? He used to stand in North Bank. He introduced me to The Shots (it´s his fault!)
Also I know it´s not RBA related but this tifo from the Sevilla derby is a work of art I am sure all the "Tifo fans" would agree. Brilliant! [URL=http://imageshack.us][/
As long as it falls on the Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues I will be fine. Infact it would be better cos´on the Fri/Sat. I fly during the night so I would not get the chance to sleep for 2 days. Just praying it is not the Thurs before!!
Ok, as I said before it actually suits me as I fly in at 6am on the Saturday morning cos´ I will be knackered. Will it affect the crowd at all moving it to Sunday evening?
I see that there is a game on the Tuesday as well, Hampshire Cup,Setanta Shield or FA Trophy. I will be there for that and I might go down to Aldershot early (I am staying in Chessington,Surrey) and go down to where I used to live in Bordon, take a few pics of my old house, school and that, and also crack this teacher that used to pick on me when I was young & small and before I was an Ultra, ha ha.
