Villa end sold out so I was in with the Reading fans, but about 10 seats away from the away end, so it wasn't too bad
I thought it would be really difficult though sitting at a football game knowing that you can't show support for your team, however I looked around me and I was surrounded by old people, women and kids in jester hats, so I got the feeling that if I went up when Villa scored I would be ok. And sure enough when Ashley Young scored I cheered and no one did anything, except from when Villa went 2-0 up towards the end and some stressy lady who was sat a few feet away had a go at me calling me a "brummie b@stard" and said that I should be in the away end and I've taken a ticket off a "genuine Reading fan" even though it wasn't sold out, and these "genuine fans" who were here when they were getting crowds of 5,000 in division 2?!
The Villa fans were loud though when they got going. The stewards seemed to be going up and down their end all game getting people to sit down which didn't help the atmosphere. The Reading fans were sh!te, there was a group to the right of the Villa fans who sung quite alot, but werent very loud and all they sang was "Blue Army" all game.
I have to say that all in all it was a good day out, but Conference football at the Rec > PremierLeague at the Madejski.
We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know wheeeen, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day....
Get in there the Villa! I watched the game at my old mans who is Big Villa fan...He was chuffed and so was I, recon the biscuit boys are goin down! Villa look a really good team this year and should qualify for europe..... Great finishes by Young and Hairlip!
Oh yeh and I forgot to mention, I saw Scott Davies outside the stadium after the game too
Although I hate Chelsea I kinda wanted them to win the Carling Cup as the extra UEFA Cup spot would go to the league and give Villa a better chance of qualifying, but Martin O'neill's applied to enter the Intertoto Cup which Villa should win so it's looking good!
