. . .has been terrible. We are top of the league but it seems as if its only a few of us singing through the game. Maybe its the drums or maybe people aren't singing but something needs to be done about it. Im sure im not the only one fed up of Come on the Shots being sung the whole game, then again it's better than nothing. New songs have been introduced but never seem to catch on. Lets make an extra effort to get the Eastbank rocking again, and maybe have the bass drum banned until its fixed because it sounds poo.
Absolutley spot on there Daniel. The atmosphere at home games has been crap all season by our standards. The reasons for this I do not know, I doubt it's to do with the drums (even though I think that the atmosphere is 100 time better without drums!) as they've been there for as long as I've been going to Aldershot and the atmosphere was always brilliant. Personally I think that the atmosphere has been affected by all the lads who left to join ACY. Lee (A Colchester supporter who was in our end Monday) said that he thought the atmosphere was better at Dagenham last season and against Palace in pre-season. Perhaps another thing is having such a boring and repetetive song book, a few of us have tried to get some decent songs going but none seem to catch on, it seems that they all have to involve a drum or be to the tune of Tom Hark to work. We keep banging on about having the "best support in the league" well let's start showing it! Cambridge easilly outsung us at our place, "often outnumbered - NEVER OUTSUNG" - Stick to it!
At least the new songs are original. Better than singing the same songs as every other team just with the word "Aldershot" put on the end of it. I'd much rather have songs that were our own instead of these "one song fits all" type songs.
Apachæ Come on the shots Pride of North Hampshire, cock of the South & the variations of Red Army, Blue Army etc.!
You may not be Stockport in terms of original decent songs but you have a better variation than most clubs.
Atmosphere was much better in 2nd half than the 1st half(well from 15 minutes in when we got there) so perhaps you need a couple of you to be pro-active and start songs when it is quiet for a few minutes!
At Colchester for instance, when the atmosphere is good I hardly ever start the songs off but when it starts to dip off then that's where I feel it is upto me and a couple of others to kick in and get everybody singing again!
Hope you appreciate the constructive advice because I do really rate your support!

right, to be honest altrincham on saturday was probably the worst its been.
people were saying to me "play your drum, play your drum" but i didnt see the point because there was barely anyone singing.
i dont think its the drums because they are there just to lift and aid the atmosphere. i think the rba as a whole need to sing our hearts out every game with alot more different songs! im pretty sure if we all sing everyone else in the eastbank will follow us!
im agreeing with dan though......come on the shots every 5 minutes is crap!
also, i wouldnt worry about the bass drum anymore because fatboys bought a floor tom which will sound a whole lot better plus, lee cant beat the **** out of it!
Considering we are top of the league I agree the atmosphere has been poor all season.
I think the main reason is because most supporters including me (although I do still sing lots) are just nervous at the moment and will be until the title is mathematically over.
People are nervous therefore don't feel like singing and want to concentrate on the action in front of them.
You can't blame them really, these are exciting but nervous times!
I'm sure the atmosphere will be superb at all home games for the remainder of the season and at all away matches.
Firstly this is my first season in the eastbank but i know that this season has not been as good atmosphere as past years. I do try to sing along with these new songs and try to learn the words but other people just dont care
Secondly i honestly do not like the song 'Come On The Shots' being played loads. I was glad when ppl started changing it to 'We're Going Up To The Football League'. This is better because it is different. However a few times this has been sang when we have been loosing ( for example Alty). I personally think that at this sort of situation we should be singing songs that get behind the individual player or the whole team. I dont know what other people feel about this so please reply.
Finally i have been trying to think/create new songs but at the moment have nothing. I just want to be able to get the best possible atmosphere in the eastbank and at away games to get behind the boys and win this league.

I agree,Rob,but the thing is whenever this is started up,immidiatley the majority of people(Including myself a few times)start singing 'Come On The Shots',I don't know if this was true at Alty, but I certainly thought it at Ebbsfleet 2nd Leg. . .
Anyone who went to the Carlisle play off semi (up there) will know the significance of 'come on you Shots' and what it helped achieve that night! 600 people sang it for 45 minutes non-stop with the belief that we could still take the game to extra time, and when Slabber headed that goal, it was almost as good as Scotty at Torquay!
I agree that Come on the shots sounds fantastic especially when sung non stop for 90 mins......I've heard players say it really spurs them on and also the media have even mentioned it in a positive way. I like people coming up with new songs but you gotta remember to keep things simple as they are usually the songs that catch on. But don't stop trying as you never know when something will catch on.
I just would like to say, we cant keep relying on the drums to lift the crowd, look at Woking in the Trophy, no drums, great atmosphere, lets try it for once, and start all of the songs against Salisbury through singing and only use the drums when needed, like in Apache and Great Escape.
chris your right in saying that drums arent needed to create an atmosphere but everytime im playing and then i stop cos its too quiet every other idiot stops singing
im not being dominant here but i think leaving drums out for most songs wouldnt work because most of the crowd would not follow.
