RE: Todays(Salisbury Home)Atmosphere....

thankyou darryl! no its not, and as you said yes we all do enjoy playing our drums, i just wish the others would not moan and actually sing and keep singing throughout! i dont always want to play it all through the game so instead of it being quiet and i play apache or something to try and raise the atmosphere a bit how about YOU start a song that maybe we do or dont know......who cares! we will all follow you.........!

drums- when i first heard them i fort they were the best thing ever but now they are turning out to be played with nearly every song, and drowning out all vocall support.

songs-it seems the only songs everyone wants to sing is to the theme of tom hark every 5 mins and in my opinion its boring!

now if the only reason is that people will only sing tom hark tunes every game is because they dnt know them maybe we need to teach them some other songs!
because atm we actually do only have 1 song tbh
but they are only my opinions.

Perhaps it doesn't sound like people are singing because the drums drown us out so much! I think alot of people join in with "No one likes us" and "Flying high..." as they're always our loudest songs as they don't involve drums, however when another song starts up people start off singing but when the drums kick in they think "fukk it, whats the point, no one can hear me because of the drums" and can't be arsed to battle against them anymore.

This isn't anything personal against you Tim, as IMO, the bass drum harms the atmosphere alot more than the snare drum does.

As I say for the 3rd time now, can't we just have ONE GAME to see IF the atmosphere improves? It's not just moaning for the sake of moaning, we're trying to get the atmosphere at it's best, so why can't we try it just ONCE to see IF it improves?!

ok wob, i will agree with what youve written. next saturday at home to burton during the WHOLE game all of us drummers shall only play with the songs that we usually do......the rest we WILL keep quiet. lets see how it works, i think it may work well. all i would say is you need to encourage alot more people to follow you as they normally rely on the drums. is that fair??

The problem is not really the drums. The problem is the East Bank is now overrun with 12-14 year old kids - most of them girls - and most of them don't even watch the game - they just chat away and annoy everyone else. I left the East Bank yesterday at half time, as I was stood by a group of around 20 that had no interest in the game and kept giggling with each other when ever we all sang our hearts out. They are killing the atmosphere more than the drums.

Tim, I cant make the whole Eastbank sing. I can sing myself the whole game, which i do however I personally cannot make everybody else sing. If you think that is possible you are welcome to try it. With regards to bonus ball - You asked for the numbers last week for crying out loud, i'd have thought even you would be able to remember the money for them. This was the last one this season however I am not going to be doing it next season, the idea is there and if somebody else wants to they can however I am not. I don't see the point in chasing 30 odd people around to try and earn some money for the group when you can't be arsed to bring £2.

You cant blame the drums, you cant blame the people singing. Its those stupid ****ing girls at the back, they dont watch the ****ing game, they dont sing the ****ing songs and the sound of their pathetic giggling drive's people crazy and it has actually drove the people out of the Eastbank, me and my uncle stand by the exit now in the Eastbank because those morons drive us mad.

I can biggrin

Anyways, back on topic.

Was this not one of the reasons for calling for a move? To get away from everyone who doesn't want to sing, and stick to those who do? Maybe we could move up towards the top right corner? It's still in the East Bank, it's still got roofing, however, it will be away from everyone else, because they only want to give **** to the away fans.

I know a lot of people may not like it, but it's a suggestion, that could well work.  If I get shot down, fair enough. But I can't see anything else getting rid of the army of 12-14 year olds in our area on a weekly basis.

Do it then, make everyone sing for 90 minutes, introduce some new songs what ever, I dont care at the moment as it cant get much worse.

With regards to moving I would move further away from the fence, let the kids shout at the away fans and we focus on supporting our team. Whatever it is, it needs to happen Saturday.

By top right do you mean nearest the North Stand? If so then I agree 100% with that. It's no coincidence that the better atmosphere tends to be at away games when it's only the real fans who travel, and also the atmosphere at Woking in the FA Trophy was mint as it was only lads who wanted to get behind the team in our section (and we didn't have drums! wink) I think we could be on to a winner with this one though smile

Same. However, it has to be a majority decision, and EVERYONE has to know about it who matters. It can't be just the 3 people, as it won't make a difference.

Its a good idea, and it also means your closer to the toilets, burger bar and the Black Bull. Your killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

Yep, have to agree. It can be easilly achieved, like the switch at Woking was, just get it up on the main site and spread the word!

right no drums if thats the way u want it i will stand with the north stand be boring and listen to nothing as most of u at salisbury said u tried starting songs we didn't start the drums unless we couldn't hear anything again i tried my hardest with and without the drums to get the crowd going but at the end of the day we are seperated at the minute. your all moaning at these girls and young lads that have joined the east bank but if we get noticed by them singing together playing the drums as an rba unit they will be converted into newer members of the football club community. If you wanted to blame the drums then i would say u don't go to many away matches as many of our matches have been quiet and boring without them.

To be fair, one of the best atmospheres we've had this season was at Woking in the FA Trophy, where we were all stood as a group and we didn't drown ourselves out with the drums. I remember someone on the Woking forum saying "they proved they don't need drums to create an atmosphere" or something along those lines, and he was right!

I'm not saying we should get rid of them forever, all I want is for the atmosphere to be the best it can be so why can't we try it just for ONE GAME, not forever, just ONCE to see if it improves. If it doesn't, then by all means bring the drums back and I'll accept that they do enhance the atmosphere.

we have had games without them at home but it all depends on what away crowds are there ie oxford, cambridge then u have your staffords woking away i agree was a great day in the end but that was all aranged before hand the rba went as a ubit in the east bank we are not we are spread to far and few but i don't mind trying it out again but u won't change the fact that we need to get the east bank the way it should be.

Basically, all the people that sing need to be together and working together, not singing 3 different songs at the same time. So lets move over slightly and get all of us together and get the EB how it used to be.

Wow, just finished reading weirdface

In terms of "we only know tom hark" who cares? Someone previously mentioned 45 minutes of non stop tom hark at carlisle seemed to do the trick, well nearly cry

The song Ideas that are coming in are good, but lets be fair, I'd rather the entire eastbank singing come on the shots, rather then 4 guys expecting everyone to know the words to some foreign song - although saying that, it was amazing how easily the kirk hudson song caught on smile But maybe we should save the new songs for away games, as someone has mentioned, these are the games that only the 'real' fans go to, and at points at every away game, the entire travelling support is singing.

Then theres the drums, apache, great escape, and the few others really are the only ones that should include the drums, yesterday the eastbank was singing "when the shots go marching in" and along with it a base drum was being banged the hell out of?

A move to the very corner of the eastbank/north stand is the best place to move IMO, occasionally the North stand like to get involved a bit, and are bound to sing the songs if we're stood right next to them, and also I think we could attract the 'right-side' of the eastbank aswell, so, if theres any kind of vote, i'm all for a move, because I have admit, it's becoming more then a joke.

i once posted something along the lines of "does your heart beat or does it beat to the sound of the drum?"
my heart beats to thesound of the drum i do think alot of people are in the eastbank to socialise now wich is why i tend to walk through until i hit a wall of people and dont even bother trying to push through anymore on the other hand singing for the team is great and a bit of banter with away fans is also excellent. the chavs are obviously there coz they wanna be part of it deep down all it takes is when in full flow a hand on there shoulder start bouncing and they follow suit
try it you might find it works?

Tbh,I've already said it,you can't slate every single girl there, there is a small group who actually sing (Which,I might like to add,Fatboy and Rogers have both pointed out).I say we just all tell the others to **** off,if that don't work, movewink.gif

I think one of the best solutions has been suggested (get everybody together - wherever that is)
What if we all meet pre-match in BB, and we all go TOGETHER into EB and we all stay TOGETHER and we all stand TOGETHER, and we all sing our hearts out (as I am sure we will be fuelled by plenty of alcohol) and we make the EB rock like it has never done before!?
altogether now...YMCA!
No I am being serious - it is very healthy to have to open debate (so my shrink says) but some of it is going a little over the top
Let our singing do the talking next Saturday and have everybody pumped up to get the place rocking - lets aim to send Burton fans home stunned by the noise we create!

I like to join in with the singing,I cant really see the point in being at a footie match if your not going to try and encourge your team to win!most of the people who stand in the east bank, kids who go there to socialise and yobs excluded, stand in there because they like the atmosphere, but for one reason or another dont bother to join in with the songs, maybe there on there own and a bit shy,or dont realise you dont need a good sining voice to sing football chants! who knows, i know some clubs are trying to help recreate there old atmosphers lost to seating ect by creating desiganted sing areas, prehaps the club or maybe the rba could do some sort of poster, sign,or leaflet maybe even a song sheet minus the swear words, with a gentle reminder that the east bank is a designated sing area and that there participation would be appreciated!
might work people like to be asked to do things, your club needs you that sort of stuff. only an idea, anyway keep up the good work i think your all greatsmile

I dont know who was at the Setanta Shield Final but I took my friend Lee who never goes to a football match, hasn't been to see Aldershot in his lifetime and he loved every single minute of it because he felt included and after 5 minutes i saw him muttering the words of songs and he was jumping up and down clapping and i looked at him and thought . . WOW this is what the eastbank is about, passion, and even though it was his first game he was getting right stuck in, and i would like to also thank Fatboy on behalf of Lee for getting him involved with the flag at the start. Im totally 100% up for a move away from immaturity. Because i believe i speak for most people when i say my highlight of every week is seeing my team, friends and fellow supporters all joined together as one!

I'm all for the moving idea but I think the reason they are in the EB is because they like the atmosphere so eventually they'll follow on and we'll be back to square one

I think it's fair to say that the atmosphere at Ebbsfleet was top notch!

The drum was worked the way it should be IMO. Only used when the atmosphere died off a bit, I thought the singing sounded alot better without a drum to drown us out, and that roof was fukking brilliant!

Roll on Saturday!!

Yeah I agree last night was a lot better than Saturday, but then you have to ask do we really need the drum? Fair enough its good for the great escape, but sometimes I just think that it just drowns out the singing.
