Website

I've had a few people talk to me about updating the website. We've got plenty going on at the moment, talking about the bonus ball, merchandise, and whatever else, so maybe they could all be put on the site?

Also, one of our moderators seems to have "****ed off", and the other two hardly come online, so maybe we could get another person to do so? I would volunteer, but I would have thought that there would be someone more able at doing so?

The website is the key selling point for the RBA during pre-season, and the latest photos on the archive on the main site are from Oxford in 2006. We're really missing a trick here by having a lacklustre site, and I think we can bring in more members by having it up to date. However, it isn't going to work when it's not being updated regularly.

Gloves off in the car park.

But yeah, the website is being payed for so we may aswell use it.

I know that if we wanted to save money we could use a free forum as these dont seem much different from this one.

Just ideas.

Tottally agree, think we need another moderator who is going to be determined to update the site reguarly and spend time on making it a good selling point, because with all due respect, not much of that has happend in about the last year.

With the forum, well, as dan said there are better programmes for free, I generally find this format quite boring and plain, and have found that on other forums there are many more features and it is generally a lot more appealling.

As ben said, it's the key of the RBA during pre-season....

I agree, I think the website needs updating. If not pictures/news, perhaps a new layout? I was looking at www.redultras.net (Aberdeen) and their website's brilliant, I think something like that would be good in attracting new members to the RBA. I'd volunteer to be a moderator or help out with the website.

I also agree about the forum, it's design seems "out-dated" to me, and you can get better layouts for free. Might aswell save some money, and get a better forum at the same time.

Can someone PM me to explain what has happened with regards to the previous main moderator?
I had a very brief PM from him and I am somewhat in the dark

Just an idea but it may be worth some of you guys getting in early and volunteering to take on the running of the rivals.net or the Vital Football one which should be up and running in time for the new season.

Like the Footy Mad one (the one we at the Strays Shots use), they host everything and all you need to do is update things.

If its run on the same basis, each quarter there is a payment for keeping the site updated and a smaller one for hits... not bad for doing something you are doing anyway!

On the Mad site we are allowed to sell advertising (as long as it doesn't conflict with one of their main advertisers) but we haven't gone into this area (yet!)

You would of course be restricted by their layouts but on the positive side, it would save someone else having to design everything from scratch - which, when there's loads of other things in life to be getting on with, can be a help.

I've offered the use of the Strays Site to both the Supporters Club and the Trust in the past - especially as we now get over 125000 views a month, but it's not been for them.

Anyway, it's worth considering seems as both Rivals and Vital will no doubt be adding The Shots to their list soon and they may just be dormant or someone without the real commitment like you fellas may take them over.

Mike
