Mintybus...........

It recently broke down on the way back from a golf trip in Cornwall. Minty has had it fixed which cost £240 which he has paid for out of his own pocket.
I suggest that we do a fund raiser to get his money back or at least some of it. The bus is also in need of a service and could do with some altercatioins like red&blue stripes, tables put in ect.
If we can raise enough money then perhaps we could get all this done as well.
It will benefit all in the RBA and as he paid out £1500 of his own money to buy the bus for the RBA, then I think this is the least we can do.
Has anybody got any ideas for fundraising? An RBA golf day perhaps? Anyone up for organising one? Other ideas?

Yeh, we should definatley make an effort to help Minty out with funds for the bus! It's really good of him to have brought it and keep it in good nick, and also letting us use it for away days!

Perhaps have a pool tournement sometime in the summer?

Thats a good idea Wob. Maybe if we had a massive game of killer and split the winnings 50/50. With one half going to the winner and the other going in a pot. If we could get 20 of us, after 10 games that would be £100 in the pot.
We could also have proper tournament were you pay £5 to enter. I could get a trophy made which would cost about £20. Again if we got 20 entrants then - the money spent to make the cup that would be another £80 made to go in the pot.
This could be all done on the same day as an RBA pool day or something. Any ideas for a venue?

Also other ideas is Car wash day or bag packing at a super market. Permission for these would be needed though so I think the Pool idea would be the easiest to get off the ground.

Could we ask the club to use their pool table? I'm not sure how many they've got, but if we could do that, and get Trev Downs to open the bar aswell possibly?

Yeh, and then not only would we be helping Minty, but also giving money to the club :)

The pool venue could be Riley's. Good tables and I'm sure we can get a good deal down there.

As there is a full coach load of RBA going to Coventry on Wednesday I think this could be an ideal time to start raising some money for Minty's tours......
Although I'm not on this coach, I'm assuming your all be stopping at a pub before the match? If there is a pool table there, how about we have our usual game of killer but instead of the winner taking all.......we split the winnings 50/50 and put one half in the pot for the Mintybus.
If we then repeat this at every away trip, I don't think it will take long to raise the money it took to repair the bus, plus raise more money for improvements.
I'm making my own way to Cov so if someone can let me know what pub your in, I can meet you there.
Is anyone willing to organise this before I get there?

Is the "no drink" for away travellers only applicable for coach companies? Seen as it is a "private" mini bus; can't someone buy beer thats on special from the supermarket or something and sell it on the mini bus on the way to Shrewbury for more?

See; i would mind say bringing a 12 pack of beer out of my own pocket - if it meant that people brought it for a couple of quid a can and the money went to Minty (as it is a good cause!)

As both minibuses going to Shrewsbury are full how about a match between the 2? If everyone pitches in say a quid (which im sure people wont mind paying!) all the cash raised goes to Minty? It may only be 30 odd quid but its something ent it? I saw on the away travel thread that a bbq could be set up aswell so it could be a a great laugh and a great day out?

Just a thought

I don't want to be seen as a party-pooper but, as I understand it, the fact that this is a private mini-bus does not mean you can drink alcohol on the way to a game.

y wouldnt we be able to drink? its private so surly they cannot do anythin about it, and minty looked in to it and said we can drink?

Sorry - didn't mean to worry you.

I was just pointing out that being a private mini-bus is not, in itself, a reason for the vehicle to be exempt from the alcohol regulations.

As has been said before, Minty has checked things out and presumably is happy that drinking is permitted.

I hope you have a great trip.  I'm going up on the train to make a long weekend of it.  See you in the ground.

I also think you could have problems.  I have been told by Reptons and the police that the ban covers private mini buses.  however, Minty says he has checked it, so conflicting information!

The bottom line with all these things is to be sensible - if beer cans are removed at the BBQ site and people act sensibly when they get to the car park - the police are unlikely to want to create a problem when one doesn't exist!
