vs Hereford United

The kit is looking very thin on the ground.
we only have 9 shirts and a few shorts and socks.
If you have put your name down for this game, please bring your own short and socks (preferably red) and if you have an Aldershot shirt please bring that as well - otherwise we will not have enough kit to go around!

As Adam says - I expect they will be in white, so either an all red Shots shirt or the red and blue type - either will work
well done to those already but we do need some more to be able to have the semblance of a kit - we will look a right raggy @rsed bunch - but they will get a shock when we thump them!!! (not literally obviously!)

Please can someone put a quick match report on here after the game. I'll be interested to know how you got on as I can't make it. Those Hereford boys are good lads but I still hope you stuff em! biggrin

For Chappie!

In a matchg reduced to 30 minutes each way and played on a reasonably hard surface following the heavy frost and the Shots forced to make a late change to their playing kit the signs were not good.  However, this is a side made up of players that just get on with it - no 'prima donnas' here - hey Carl!
So it was no surprise when the Shots took the lead following a blistering drive from the ever busy Hindmarsh, that was just too hot to handle for the Hereford keeper and whistled past him and bulged the back of the net!
Shots went in at half time 1-0 up and Hereford had not even tested the Shots keeper Tony Roberts, on loan from Dagenham and Redbridge.
So the Shots went into the 2nd half feeling quite confident of chalking up another victory on the road.
Unfortunately, a lack of a linesman cost them dear when a blatantly offside Hereford striker had time to pick his spot whilst the Shots players surrounded the referee to make their strong protestations.
The poor decision could have led to nastier scenes had the Shots faithful in the stands not been so pre-occupied with their burgers and coffees!!

The rest of the 2nd half saw the Shots pressing before a hopeful punt forward to possibly one of the worst players on the pitch saw him stick his shin pad out at the ball and hook underneath it to somehow lob a stranded Shots keeper to make it 2-1.
Shots pressed and pressed and had numerous chances (many thanks to the ref for very helpfully stalling the final whistle everytime we broke again looking for an equalizer)

In the dying seconds the ball fell at the feet of the veteran Ady Darbyshire, but he snatched at his shot and despite those years of experience, blazed his shot over with the whole goal at his mercy.  The waiting journalists were forced to change their morning headlines when it looked easier to score.

so a game of two halves ended in a rare defeat and calls for manager Jelly's head.
At the end of the day it was a great advert for Aldershot Town and Gary Waddock was left sick as a parrot when the Shots fans arrived at Adams park with the Wycombe boys winning 2-1, only to see Brighton ram home 4 without reply in the 2nd half.....talk of a game of two halves!!!

Brilliant! Thanks for doing that. Sounds like you turned a bad situation into a really good day out (Typical Shots) smile.
Had I been there and run the line, I'd of made sure it ended at least 2-2 and more than likely caused a riot! biggrin
