The RED BLUE ARMY is not even officially half a year old and already things are going from strength to strenght! I wouldn't have thought that when the idea was suggested to form this group by a few like minded individuals, we would be where we are today. The RBA's efforts as the '12th Man' are finally becoming recognised.
At present we have over 60 paid up members which is more than we expected, and hopefully we'll reach the 100 mark by Christmas! Membership cards will (fingers crossed) be available for collection on Tuesday night when we entertain Hereford. We'll be giving out as many as we can to the people we know, however please do come and find us in the Eastbank during the game to collect yours!
The money received through membership to the RBA has been kept in our own bank account and spent wisely to get the RBA up and running. We have so far spent some of the funds on our website (which Frank has done a superb job) and on some of the displays that we have put on during matchdays.
The RBA will look to raise more money throughout the season. We already plan a sponsored walk to Woking when we play them in the league and a sponsered cycle to Crawley, when we make the trip to thier place. Other fund raising ideas are stil being discussed.
We would like to make clear that we not only have an aim to improve our efforts as the '12th man' but also help the club financially! Our bank account will be cleared at the end of the season with all the money raised going straight to the club.
The first social function that the RBA will host, is an 'Xmas Bash'. At the moment we have pencilled in Friday 23rd Dec as the likely date for the event to be held in the Social Club at the Rec. Details are still tbc, but information will become available asap.
The RBA have now had 3 successful coach journeys to Accrington, Carlsile(both last season) and Halifax. Although this Sunday's planned trip to Burton has been cancelled, many more trips will be arranged in the future. Many people who have experiance a trip on the RBA coach would agree that it certainly puts the fun back into travelling to away games. Hopefully in a couple of years we'll have coach trips to every away game!
So far so good, and things will get better. I would like to say a big thanks to all who have helped out with the RBA so far, your efforts are most appreciated! Below are some of the visual displays we've put on during our short period, and trust me, there will be many more to come! Keep it up everyone!
