Can I just pay tribute to one of the greatest footballers in the world, George Best, after he passed away on Friday 24th of November, at the tender age of 59. R.I.P George Best.
Although this might be a little inappropriate, he really did throw his life away. Non stop drinking for 20/30 years caused his liver to fail. So he was given another one through a donar and despite what the Doctors told him, he carried on drinking! He had everything: known as one of the world greatest player, could get any woman into bed, loads of cash, etc, and threw it all away because of his love to drink. RESPECT!
I'm afraid I have to agree. Tony Blair has just said he believes that george is one of the best fooballers the UK has ever produced. But he did throw it all away, because of a drinking poblem. He did have it all, and gave it all away, for booze. What more can you say?
R.I.P Best - true great gave up to early could have achieved so much more but in his short carer achieve what many in the world would love to achieve, true genuis who never be forgotten!!
although he was a drinker and didnt fufil his full potential its nothing diferent to millions of others in the world maybe even your next door neighbour
The most important thing to remember is the football and the delight he bought to millions of fans across the world. Nothing else matters. Rest in Peace George. You were the original star.
I disagree... yes he was a great footballer and i will always remember him for his ability as a player but im afraid i do think it matters that he was given a second liver just so he could waste it away like his last when there are other people out there who would have given anything to have that liver! Status and money should not have an effect on doners, i have admirale respect for Best as a footballer but i don't think he should have gotten that liver because everyone including him knew he was just dragging out the inevtibale.

Dylan nothing against you but i agree with what you are saying, but when have the doctors come out and said that his death is down to his drinking again and again? They have said the reason he is dying is due to the drugs he had to take because of illness which have left his immune system weak and inaffective.
i thought this time they were saying he had a lung infection? and he wasnt actually in hospital due to his liver but his lungs yet in the end it all mounted up
I see your direction Noz but the fact is, had he not been such a big drinker his health would have been so much better and he was told many times that with his health as it was he needed to curb his drinking or it would probably be the death of him.... don't get me wrong i appreciate the fact he had other problems and they are what saw him off but i just feel that given his drinking habbit and his poor health the liver doner was wasted.
I realise people will probably disagree with me and that's fair enough it's just how i feel, i really did admire what Besty had and i should add, could of had if he'd taken different paths during his life.
Anyway i'd like to remember him for his football and leave it as that.

Guys although we know the guy drank himself to death. Give the man respect for his extraordinary talent on the pitch! Lets not all think what he could of been but the talent that he was!
He was a legend i met him at haslemere station and he was so skinny shame he wasted his life. Aperntly he played at the rec when united played aldershot in the league cup
Aldershot went 1-0 up in that game to so im led to believe, but united turned it around in the second half to win 1-3, i think it was that game unless they have played them other than then.
