because of my nasty clash with luke people have been askin how i am so i thought id make it easier and post about it!!
im still in pain and its still swealling and i have a splitting headche but should be getting better soon! but i didnt see it soo i dont know how bad it looked?!
Well, I was within 5 metres of the incident, and I would say that Luke went up for a header, and Craig went up to headbutt him, and hit him straight on the noggin!
I would say "Luke" had no right to go in for the challenege as he was never going to get there and was always going to cause and injury to him or Garzy! Plus i was closer then Fatboy!
Firstly, I know Luke can dive, I have seen it for myself. But for the record, I don't think that he did that yesterday.
Secondly, I get as annoyed as a lot of people that sometimes Luke doesn't pass the ball when there are people in great positions for him to do so, but that is Luke. Maybe as he gets a bit older and learns the game a bit more he will learn that he can't do everything himself.
Finally, I know a lot of people have said he shouldn't have gone for that ball and it was dangerous him doing so. Unfortunately I wasn't looking in that direction at the time because I was concentrating on doing my job defensively, so I can't really comment on exactly what happened. However, what I would like to say is that sometimes there are balls that perhaps you shouldn't go for, but because you want to win it so much you go for it, without even thinking about that, it doesn't even enter your head that you are not going to win the ball. So you can't say he had no right to challenge for the ball, because everyone does have the right to go for the ball if they want to win the ball. Unfortunately sometimes these accidents happen where two commited players are both trying to win, and both players should be credited for the fact that they were both trying for their respective teams.
Having said that I wish you all the best in your recovery Craig, hope the bump and the headache goes soon and your back playing again next week.
Sorry but I dont agree fully. I still think Luke was taking the game far to seriously and trying to show off sometimes but thats my opinion
But what is the point in going out and playing if you are not going to take it seriously???
I understand its only a friendly game of football, but there is no point in going out and playing if you are not trying to win, so you should take it seriously.
As much as others will try and tell you different, I never ever go out trying to hurt anyone, all I ever want to do is win the ball, and as a result I go in whole heartedly for every single tackle. I think if you are going to play you need to want to win.
jason what you say about going out to win yeh i think your right you should always go out to win every game you play. However i dont agree were you say luke should of gone for the ball he was never going to win it and you see in the players like lampard and beckham they know they wont win the tackle so they pull out of it and that what i feel luke should of done was pull out of the tackle. Yes i know you see players who are very late on tackles as well but then again thats football.
luke not being funny mate but you was never going to win the ball mate i have never said you drived on saturday and to be fair you didnt but i feel you was never going to win the ball.
The ball was there to be won and Craig came off worse and if you pull out of challange when you went in for it your more likely to come out worse
are you saying i pulled out luke? i won the header far and square but it was a 50/50 challenge that i won but came out worse but thats called comitment to the game.
Look I can't understand what all this fuss is about. Both players went for the ball, both were committed to winning it, unfortunately one of them got hurt, but it was an accident pure and simple.
None of you could see the situation from Lukes eyes, from where he was he might have thought he could win the ball, so he went for it.
If everyone knew exactly when they couldn't win the ball then perhaps this would be a perfect world, but its not, and people have to accept that sometimes you go for a tackle that you really think you can win, and it doesn't work out right.
Saturday I got a boot in the face and kicked in the chest, but I didn't kick up a fuss about it, because I know that the people that did it were not intentionally trying to do that, they were really trying to win the ball, just as Luke was honestly trying to win the ball in his challenge.
When you put it like that mate i can see were your coming from. I can sort of see both sides of the argument and instead of everyone arguing about it at the end of the day lets just put it down to a 50-50 tackle with two commited players going for the ball.
Sounds to me like a few of you guys need to lay down your football boots and pick up your pleated skirts, it's netball for you!!!
As for anyone being in the wrong, well in fairness as jason has already said, any player is entitled to go for any challenge if they think they can win the ball, and if it was blatantly obvious that luke wasn't going to win the ball, and was diving as some of you claim then the only people who got it wrong were the officials for not picking up on this, afterall that's what they're there for =).
