Cambridge manager releases trio






Cambridge Utd Cambridge United boss Rob Newman has released three players, including top scorer Fola Onibuje, following a mid-table finish in the Conference.

Defenders Dan Gleeson and Danny Bunce, who was on non-contract terms, will also not be offered new deals.

In addition, full-back Gavin Heeroo is not being kept on at the end of his long-term loan from Farnborough Town.

Newman has offered contracts to midfielders Courtney Pitt and Rob Wolleaston, and striker Craig Westcarr.

Westcarr, who had been on a month-to-month deal during the season, recently rejected an initial offer of a contract.

Newman will also hold talks with experienced defenders Andy Duncan and Mark Peters and goalkeepers Scott Howie and Jamie Waite over the next few days.


 


We could bring back John Turner and get Fola Onibuje because they are both great players

I would have none of those players! Fola Onibuje is rubbish and I would never buy him if I was a manager and if TB got him then the Eastbank would have no excitement because we would start pumping balls up to him like we did with Sillsy and to be honest I'd rather watch free flowing, pacey attacking play because any team can do a Bolton!

Same reason as Barney was ours: The rest of there strikers were rubbish. Ok then you want him to come to the Rec so we can play the same way as Forest Green/Alsop and pump balls up to him. That is not football!

Im no fan of the long ball and i'd personally prefer to see free flowing football but if we do end up with a 7ft ex cambridge hitman then im sure i'll warm to him if puts away the goals.
