yes we can still win, doesnt make it easier with out rooney though! d.bent to be in the squad but defoe to start up top as he's our next best in my opinion.

Rooney is a major dent in the team being one of the best strikers in the world and yes bent is good but he has very little international experience.I think svenn will choose owen (not sure if hell be back) and crouch like it or not?

Rooneys injury is expected to leave him out for 6 weeks (to the day of Englands first match!)

Now look at it like this:

1. He is young, meaning he WILL heal quicker than say someone slightly older;

2. The treatment he is getting is probably the best in the country for someone with this injury;

3. He is constantly using an oxygen vent so that it will heal quicker;

4. As long as he doesnt do any impact training (e.g. running) he can still train to keep himself fit, by doing exercises such as cycling / swimming;

5. I really cant see England needing him in the first two games (and if they do they dont deserve to be in the World Cup giving him an EXTRA two weeks to train IF he is fit by the 6 week date.

So lets keep thinking positive!

I personally still think we can win the World Cup however without Rooney I think we would be looking more to the QF / SF.

well all these national players in the prem who are going to be playing for there countrys know that rooney is a big threat to there countrys in the world cup it seems ironic that paulo ferreira pulls such a harsh tackle on him weeks before the world cup

Rooney is 1 player in a 23 man squad all you have to think is of 2002 world cup without rooney and if you compare the squad from then to now its gotten much much better so on paper we should beat the quarter-finals what we got in last time.

it is a big surprise because he has not even played a minute in the arsenal first team but sven said the only reason why he picked him because no countries will no anything about him and he can come out and shock them
