Stimson wants to look for a fresh challenge after leaving GraysGrays Athletic boss Mark Stimson has quit the Conference side just days after clinching the FA Trophy.
Stimson, who led his side to the play-off semi-finals, handed in his resignation to chairman Mick Woodward following a meeting on Tuesday morning.
Assistant manager Scott Barrett has also left the club
Woodward told BBC Essex: "Mark's been here four years and he's done a phenomenal job. He's entitled to be a Football League manager."
Grays won the FA Trophy for the second successive season when they beat Woking 2-0 at Upton Park on Sunday.
It came just four days after they suffered heartache in the play-off semi-finals when they lost 5-4 on aggregate to Halifax Town.
Stimson guided Grays to third place in their first season following promotion from Conference South.
Woodward added: "I think losing in the play-offs knocked us all sideways.
"I think he wants a new challenge and the best way to put yourself in the shop window is to let people know you're available.
"I don't think people would approach us because of the relationship we have and I would say to any League Chairman, contact Mark Stimson because he's one hell of a manager.
"Mark will take his next club to a new level. His footballing knowledge is second to none and the way he plays the game is different gravy.
"We shook hands and I wish him and Scott all the best. I tried to talk him out of it, you've got to try to do that."
Morecambe boss Harvey leaves club
Harvey's long association with Morecambe is overMorecambe have parted company with boss Jim Harvey and he has been released from his deal with immediate effect.
The former Tranmere and Hereford midfielder, 48, took charge of the Shrimps in July 1994 and established the club as a Conference force.
Harvey was forced to stand down last November when he suffered a heart attack but after returning to health was expected to resume his duties.
Sammy McIlroy was appointed caretaker manager in Harvey's absence.
McIlroy led Morecambe to the play-offs, where they were beaten in the semi-finals by Hereford.
Chairman Peter McGuigan told Morecambe's website: "The board would like to thank Jim for his significant contribution to the development of Morecambe Football Club during the last 12 years and wish him every success for the future."
